The Texas Rangers are expected to part ways with longtime first baseman Blaine Crim as the veteran slugger pursues an opportunity to continue his career overseas.

According to multiple reports, Texas placed Crim on release waivers this week, a move that will allow him to become a free agent once he clears the process. The decision opens the door for the 29-year-old to sign with a club in Asia, with reports indicating he is nearing an agreement with the NC Dinos of the Korea Baseball Organization.

Crim's departure marks the end of a lengthy tenure with the Rangers organization. Originally selected by Texas in the 19th round of the 2019 MLB Draft, he steadily climbed through the club's farm system and established himself as one of its most productive minor-league hitters.

While Crim never secured an extended role in the major leagues, he consistently delivered strong offensive production at Triple-A.

Across nearly 2,000 plate appearances at the level, he compiled an impressive .280 batting average with a .369 on-base percentage and .479 slugging percentage, demonstrating both power and plate discipline.

This season, Crim spent time in the Triple-A systems of both the Rangers and Colorado Rockies organizations.

Through 252 plate appearances, he posted a .265/.341/.453 slash line with 10 home runs. Though respectable, those numbers came in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League, where offensive production is often inflated.

Crim briefly reached the majors during the 2025 season, appearing in 20 games for Texas. He connected on five home runs during that limited opportunity, providing a glimpse of the power that made him a consistent run producer throughout his minor-league career.

His path over the past year included a brief separation from the Rangers. Texas lost Crim on waivers to the Rockies last August before reacquiring him earlier this season. Despite returning to the organization, a clear major-league opportunity never materialized.

Now, Crim appears poised to continue his professional career abroad. For many veteran minor leaguers, the KBO League offers a chance for regular playing time, financial stability, and the opportunity to become an everyday impact player.

As he prepares for the next phase of his career, Crim leaves behind a reputation as one of the Rangers' most durable and productive farm system contributors in recent years.
