A dominant scoreless streak at Triple-A has Emiliano Teodo on the cusp of joining the Texas Rangers.
For the last several years, the Texas Rangers have quietly developed a group of highly regarded pitching prospects from the Dominican Republic.
Emiliano Teodo, Winston Santos, and Leandro Lopez have all emerged as important pieces of the organization’s future plans.
Last year, Teodo and Santos earned spots on the Arizona Fall League Fall Stars Team, while Lopez followed with a strong 2025 campaign.
All three pitchers currently occupy places on the Rangers’ 40-man roster, which reflects how highly the organization values them. The Rangers protected each arm from the Rule 5 Draft because they viewed them as long-term assets worth keeping.
Now, one of them may be getting close to reaching the major leagues.
Teodo is putting together a stretch at Triple-A Round Rock that is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.
Originally developed as a starting pitcher, Teodo was moved into a relief role last season as the Rangers looked to maximize the impact of his power arsenal in shorter outings.
The transition has not been completely smooth.
Injuries slowed his progress and limited his ability to build momentum. Another setback interrupted his spring preparation.
Recently, however, things have started trending in the right direction.
Teodo allowed one run in one inning against Sacramento on May 16.
Since then, he has not surrendered another run.
That scoreless streak has reached nine appearances, covering nine innings with five hits allowed, nine strikeouts, and four walks. He also has not allowed a hit across his last six outings.
The recent stretch has lowered his ERA from 6.27 to 4.23.
Overall, Teodo is now 2-2 with a 1.44 WHIP, five holds and three saves in three opportunities while posting 39 strikeouts and 22 walks in 27.2 innings over 25 appearances. Opposing hitters are batting .188 against him.
Teodo once ranked among the organization’s top starting pitching prospects and represented the American League in the 2024 Futures Game, where he started the first inning and earned the victory.
The raw ability has never been questioned.
The remaining challenge is command.
His walk rate remains elevated and continues to be the biggest obstacle standing between Triple-A success and a major league opportunity.
Still, the swing-and-miss ability, limited contact, and overpowering stuff continue to point toward a future in high-leverage situations.
If the command improves even slightly, Teodo may force the Rangers’ hand sooner than expected, especially if bullpen inconsistencies create opportunities for emerging internal options who can help the team catch the Seattle Mariners in the AL West.
