ARLINGTON, Texas -- Prior to the Texas Rangers exhibition series against the Kansas City Royals, the club revealed several moves regarding their Opening Day roster.

Up until now, the biggest question regarding the Rangers has been who would gain the fifth spot in the starting rotation.

It has been revealed that Kumar Rocker will be the Rangers' fifth starter, and Jacob Latz will begin the season in the bullpen.

Rocker went 1-1 with a 4.26 ERA in four games this Spring Training, pitching 12 2/3 innings, striking out 14.

With the fifth starter competition coming to a close, a pair of veteran pitchers have been informed they will not make the team when camp breaks on Tuesday.

Both Austin Gomber and Cal Quantrill have been informed that they did not make the team after a hard-fought Spring Training.

Additionally, we have found out some news regarding the Rangers' bench, which was another question for the club to have answered coming into Spring Training.

New Ranger Andrew McCutchen has been informed that he has made the Opening Day roster after a red-hot Spring Training following signing a minor league deal earlier this month.

McCutchen looks to be the prime choice to be a right-handed complement to Joc Pederson when the opposing team has a left-handed pitcher on the mound.

With McCutchen occupying the right-handed bench bat the Rangers were looking for, veteran Mark Canha has been informed that, barring injury, he will not make the Rangers' Opening Day roster.

Sam Haggerty has also been informed that he has made the team. This doesn’t come as a surprise, given the Rangers needed someone to take over for Josh Smith in the utility role now that Smith will presumptively move over to second base.

Ezequiel Duran will also likely be on the Opening Day roster, leaving few questions remaining about the Rangers' bench.

There is still at least one spot up for grabs in the Rangers bullpen, meaning that these next two exhibition games will certinally have plenty of meaning for those vying for that spot.

Overall, we have now gotten answers about the main questions surrounding this Rangers team heading into Spring Training.

Texas once again figures to have one of the best pitching staffs in all of baseball and will look for an offensive bounce-back season from a plate approach standpoint to reach the postseason for the first time since winning it all in 2023.
