After losing four of their last five games, the Texas Rangers had a chance to finish their series on a positive note against the San Diego Padres on Sunday.

After taking the first game of the series at Globe Life Field on Friday 9-7, Texas lost the second game in extra innings on Saturday, 6-4. With a chance to still come out on top of the three-game set, the Rangers went to work on Sunday and clawed out a close 4-3 victory.

After Wyatt Langford gave the Rangers a commanding 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning thanks to a three-run home run, Texas allowed San Diego to get back into the game in the top of the fourth with a three-run frame of its own.

It did not take long for the Rangers to respond, though, as Josh Jung hit an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth to help his team retake the lead, and they would not relinquish it from there. After the game, Jung reacted to the game and the series as a whole.

"I mean, game one right off the bat, being able to answer in that first inning," Jung told Laura Stickells of Rangers Sports Network. "And then after a tough one yesterday, coming out and putting up a couple runs early. I mean that was huge for the offense and then being able to answer back after they tied the game.

"I mean, that was everything," Jung added. "Skip's [Rangers manager Skip Schumaker] challenge for us was the bench to have all the energy, especially coming off a big inning by the opposing team, and our bench stepped up in a big way and helped us out."

Jung also praised Langford, who has now hit five home runs in June since returning from the Injured List.

"I mean, he's hitting a lot of homers," Jung said. "So, he's put a lot of runs up on the board. So, that's always nice, and he's playing good defense too. So I mean, he's helped us in a big way."

Now at 37-40 after Sunday’s win, the Rangers will begin a lengthy road trip that consists of stops in Miami, Toronto and Cleveland. For Jung and his teammates, winning a series against the Padres at home was important, especially when Texas has been a better team at home. 

However, he emphasized how important it is to win every series possible.

"I mean, it's every series," Jung said. "If you can win every series, you're going to play good baseball; you're going to have a good record at the end of the day. So, it was huge to end the homestand with a series win. Have a happy flight and get ready for this long road trip."
