The Texas Rangers were tied for second in the American League with a total of four players named as Rawlings Gold Glove finalists.
On Wednesday afternoon, Rawlings announced the finalists for the 2026 Gold Glove Awards, and there was no shortage of representation for the Texas Rangers.
Three players from each position, as well as three utility finalists, were announced, and four Texas players made the cut.
Duran gets expected nomination
As expected, Ezequiel Duran was named a finalist as a utility man after his breakout season on both sides of the ball.
Duran nicknamed himself “The Solution,” and he really was that for the Rangers in 2026, playing anywhere that the Rangers needed him to and doing it at a very high level.
There’s no doubt Duran has a great chance to win the award and could also take home the utility Silver Slugger. The finalists for that award have yet to be announced.
deGrom gets the call
Jacob deGrom was also named a finalist after another strong defensive season on the mound for Texas.
deGrom has never won a Gold Glove in his career despite being a great fielder. The all-time great pitcher was once a shortstop during his college days.
Pair of Rangers outfielders honored
In the outfield, the Rangers had a pair of finalists for the award. Both Wyatt Langford and Evan Carter were given the honor.
Langford certainly has a solid chance to win, as a lot of his defensive metrics show up on the positive side.
Since coming into the league, Langford has been a solid defender in left field after playing in center field for much of his time in college. He, of course, has featured in center for Texas a decent amount, but this season he was a force to be reckoned with on the defensive side in left.
As for Carter, despite being a strong defender since breaking onto the scene in 2023, this season was by far his best defensive year.
Sure, most of that came from just being healthy for much of the year for the first time in his career, but Carter was able to make play after play in center field, so much so that it kept him in the lineup while he was struggling at the plate.
Major League Baseball and Rawlings will announce the winners for each of the Gold Glove positions on Nov. 1.
Last season, second baseman Marcus Semien won the American League Gold Glove at second base before he was dealt in the off-season. Texas did not have a winner during the 2024 title defense season after having multiple winners in 2023.
