The Texas Rangers will once again be without one of their hottest hitters after Wyatt Langford landed on the Injured List with a hamstring strain.
The Texas Rangers have suffered another setback in their outfield, placing Wyatt Langford on the 10-day Injured List because of a left hamstring strain.
The move came one day after Langford was scratched shortly before first pitch in Saturday's victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. While the club has not provided a timetable for his return, the injury interrupts what had become one of the most productive stretches of his season.
Langford had only recently worked his way back from a lengthy absence after missing more than a month with a right forearm strain. Since returning to the lineup earlier this month, the young outfielder quickly regained his offensive rhythm and became one of Texas' most dangerous bats.
Over his last 20 games, Langford hit .317 with seven home runs while consistently producing in the middle of the Rangers' lineup.
He also reached base in each of his previous 10 games and was hitting .390 across his last 14 plate appearances. His strong run elevated his season batting average to .278 while pushing his OPS to a season-best .824.
Unfortunately for both Langford and the Rangers, injuries have continued to interrupt his career. This latest setback marks his sixth trip to the injured list since making his major-league debut.
He also dealt with multiple oblique injuries during the 2025 season after previously missing time with a hamstring injury during his rookie campaign.
Taking Langford's place on the active roster is outfielder Evan Carter, who has been activated from the IL after recovering from a right oblique strain.
Carter had been sidelined since suffering the injury while making a diving catch against the Boston Red Sox on June 12. Before returning, he appeared in one rehab game with Double-A Frisco, where he reached base three times by going 2-for-2 with a home run and a walk.
Although Carter has struggled offensively this season, batting .176 with six home runs and 21 RBIs in 66 games, he has remained a valuable contributor on the bases, successfully converting all 10 of his stolen-base attempts.
The Rangers will now look for the 23-year-old to provide stability in the outfield while Langford begins another recovery process.
