According to Francys Romero of Beisbol FR, the Texas Rangers have parted ways with Dairon Blanco.
The Texas Rangers have elected to release veteran outfielder Dairon Blanco after his short stay within the organization.
Blanco opened the season with Triple-A Round Rock after joining the Rangers on a waiver claim during Spring Training, but the club ultimately decided to move in a different direction with its outfield depth.
After being claimed in March, Blanco was later removed from the 40-man roster when he cleared outright waivers. He remained in the organization as a non-roster option before his release became official this week.
Offensive Production Slows In Triple-A
Blanco struggled to establish consistency offensively during his limited action with Round Rock this season. Over 21 games, the veteran outfielder posted modest production at the plate while failing to provide much power output.
Although he continued to showcase his speed on the bases, his overall offensive numbers were noticeably below the standard he had produced throughout much of his professional career.
The dip in performance stood out particularly because Blanco had previously been a productive hitter at the Triple-A level entering the season.
Prior to 2026, Blanco carried a strong offensive résumé in Triple-A competition and had consistently found ways to contribute through contact hitting, speed, and situational offense.
Speed Remains His Calling Card
Even with the offensive struggles, Blanco’s elite speed continues to be the tool that defines his game. Throughout his Major League opportunities with the Kansas City Royals, Blanco developed a reputation as one of the fastest players in professional baseball.
His quickness allowed him to impact games in multiple ways, both as a baserunner and defensively in the outfield. Blanco also showed the ability to thrive against left-handed pitching during his Major League career, often producing stronger offensive results in favorable platoon matchups.
Because of that specialized role, much of his big league success came in limited opportunities against left-handed pitchers rather than everyday usage.
Defensive Versatility Could Draw Interest
Blanco’s athleticism has also allowed him to play all three outfield positions throughout his career. While his arm strength has often been viewed as below average, his range and speed help compensate defensively, particularly in spacious outfields.
The Rangers may have decided to move on, but Blanco’s experience, defensive flexibility, and elite running ability could still make him an attractive depth option for another organization.
Teams seeking late-game speed, defensive insurance, or a veteran outfielder capable of handling left-handed pitching may still have interest as the season continues.
