Texas Rangers prospect Malcolm Moore has transformed an injury-shortened 2025 campaign into a breakout 2026 season.
The Texas Rangers are seeing encouraging returns from their 2024 first-round draft pick as catcher Malcolm Moore has emerged as one of the organization's fastest-rising prospects during the 2026 season.
After beginning the year ranked No. 18 in the Rangers' farm system, Moore has climbed into the organization's top five prospects thanks to a strong bounce-back campaign.
The former Stanford standout has rediscovered the offensive form that made him the No. 30 overall selection in the 2024 MLB Draft, putting together one of the best seasons of his young professional career.
The jump in prospect status comes after Moore battled adversity during his first full season in professional baseball. Now, he is seemingly one of the most intriguing prospects in the Rangers' pipeline.
Injury-plagued 2025 now behind him
Moore's development hit an unexpected obstacle in 2025 when a broken finger on his right hand sidelined him for roughly two months early in the season.
The injury limited him to 62 games and made it difficult to regain his rhythm after returning to the lineup. Following the regular season, the Rangers sent him to the Arizona Fall League to make up for lost at-bats and continue his development against advanced competition.
That additional experience appears to have carried over into 2026.
Now fully healthy, Moore has shown the balanced offensive approach that made him one of the top catchers in his draft class.
Producing across two levels
Moore has spent the season between High-A and Double-A, posting strong numbers while continuing to develop both offensively and defensively.
The 23-year-old is batting .264 with 15 home runs, 19 doubles, 48 RBIs and 48 runs scored. He has also drawn 30 walks, reflecting the plate discipline that has long been one of the strengths of his offensive profile.
Perhaps most encouraging for the Rangers has been Moore's return to driving the baseball consistently. With his hand fully recovered, he has once again displayed the power that helped him hit 31 home runs during his collegiate career at Stanford.
An important piece of Texas' future
Moore's resurgence has significantly strengthened the Rangers' long-term outlook behind the plate.
After an injury delayed his progress a year ago, he has responded with a breakout season that has reaffirmed his status as one of the organization's most promising young players. As he continues gaining experience at Double-A, Moore is positioning himself to move another step closer to making an impact at the major league level.
