Texas Rangers outfielder Brandon Nimmo exited Wednesday’s win against the Colorado Rockies with right hamstring tightness.

The Texas Rangers avoided a potentially serious injury situation Wednesday night after outfielder Brandon Nimmo exited the club’s 5-4 win against the Colorado Rockies because of right hamstring tightness.

The Rangers made the decision during the fifth inning after Nimmo singled and appeared uncomfortable while running down the first-base line. Manager Skip Schumaker and a team trainer quickly checked on him at first base before ultimately deciding to remove him from the game as a precaution.

Although Nimmo reportedly wanted to remain in the lineup, Schumaker prioritized avoiding a more significant setback, particularly given the conditions at Coors Field and the physical demands of the outfield.

The Rangers’ coaching staff did not want to risk the hamstring worsening on an aggressive baserunning play or extra movement in the spacious Colorado outfield.

The injury concern is not entirely new for Nimmo, who has been managing discomfort in the same hamstring dating back to late April. Earlier in the season, the veteran outfielder exited consecutive games against the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers because of similar tightness.

The Rangers also attempted to lessen the physical strain by using him as a designated hitter for multiple games in early May.

Fortunately for Texas, the situation does not currently appear to be severe. Nimmo indicated after the game that the removal was primarily intended to prevent the issue from becoming a longer-term problem. Both player and manager expressed optimism that the outfielder could return to the lineup as soon as Friday.

The Rangers have emphasized caution with soft-tissue injuries throughout the season, especially for veteran players expected to contribute heavily over the course of a long year.

Rather than allowing a minor issue to linger or worsen, the organization opted to act immediately before the hamstring developed into something more serious that could require an injured list stint.

Nimmo has been one of the Rangers’ more productive hitters through the opening portion of the season. Across 47 games, he has posted a .273 batting average with a .353 on-base percentage and a .421 slugging percentage, providing stability near the top of the lineup while contributing consistent offensive production.

With the Rangers continuing to battle through a competitive division race, keeping Nimmo healthy remains an important priority. For now, the club appears hopeful that the early decision to remove him from Wednesday’s contest helped avoid a much larger issue down the road.
