Texas Rangers top prospect Sebastian Walcott will be a designated hitter for Double-A Frisco on Friday night as he works his way back from injury.
During the 2026 MLB All-Star break, the Texas Rangers had a positive development regarding their top prospect.
Shortstop Sebastian Walcott made his season debut, serving as the designated hitter in a pair of games for the Rangers Arizona Complex League team.
Walcott had a strong showing in his first game action of 2026, going 1-for-3 with a double and a pair of runs scored. In his second Ariziona Complex League game, Walcott hit a home run a drew a walk.
On Friday night, Walcott will take another step forward as he looks to work his way back to full health.
Walcott is expected to, once again, play another game at DH but this time will suit up for the Double-A Frisco Roughriders in their game against the Tulsa Drillers.
Early in Spring Training, Walcott suffered a UCL tear in his right elbow, eventually needing internal brace surgery and causing him to miss the first three-and-a-half months of the season.
Before the injury, Walcott had earned an invite to big-league camp after a strong full season with the Roughriders that saw him hit .255 with 13 home runs and 59 RBI.
Ever since signing with the Rangers before the 2023 season, Walcott has quickly risen through the ranks of both the orginization and the list of baseball’s top prospects.
Baring any setbacks, there’s no doubt Walcott could see his first action with Triple-A Round Rock by the end of the season and could be knocking on the doors of Major League Baseball sometime soon.
