Perhaps no Rangers player is facing more pressure to have a solid season in 2026 than Josh Jung.

Perhaps no Rangers player is facing more pressure to have a solid season in 2026 than Josh Jung.

2025 was the low point in Jung’s career as he hit just .251 with a .294 OBP, a .390 SLG with 14 home runs and 61 RBI to go along with it.

On July 2nd, Jung was sent down to AAA Round Rock in a surprising move to many. He was recalled on July 21st.

As of now, Jung’s name has stayed out of public trade rumors despite many outsiders drawing connecting the logic of Texas potentially putting their former all-star third baseman on the trade block.

However, just as we saw with Marcus Semien, Adolis Garica, and Jonah Heim, the Rangers certainly have no problem parting with regulars if they fail to perform up to standards.

2025 could very well mark Jung’s final chance to cement himself as part of the team’s long-term plans moving forward.

Thus far in the off-season, the Rangers haven’t added any infielders and likely won’t do so on a major scale.

Therefore, Jung should get the opportunity that he needs to once again be the starting 3rd baseman.

An opportunity that Jung will certainly need to take advantage of before his time could potentially run out.
