A season in which the Texas Rangers feel that Nathan Eovaldi could once again be a contender for the Cy Young award.

Texas Rangers starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi was in the midst of a historic 2025 season in which he seemed nearly unhittable.

No Ranger has ever won the Cy Young Award, and it was looking like Eovaldi had a solid chance to become the first.

Eovaldi flew out of the gates in 2025, practically winning every game he started and dominating while doing it.

By late August, Eovaldi had made 22 starts and went 11-3 with an astonishing 1.73 ERA in 130 innings.

However, that is when Eovaldi’s season would wrap up after the Rangers determined a rotator cuff strain would end his season.

Earlier this offseason, Eovaldi also underwent a successful surgery to repair a sports hernia, which took place in Phoenix.

Now, Eovaldi will enter Spring Training with no restrictions and be good to go in ramp up for the 2026 season.

A season in which the Rangers feel that Eovaldi could once again be a contender for the Cy Young Award.

Despite entering his age-35 season, Eovaldi has been pitching just as well as he has been through his entire career.

This season will mark the second year in a three-year deal that Eovaldi signed with the Rangers before last season.

Eovaldi will once again be at the top of the rotation with Jacob deGrom creating one of, if not the best, 1-2 punch in all of baseball.

Joining them this season will be MacKenzie Gore, who was acquired in a trade from the Washington Nationals earlier this offseason.

Last season, the Rangers featured the best starting rotation in all of baseball and certinally have the chance to have the same in 2026.

There is no doubt that if the offense can rebound, the Rangers could be looking at their first postseason appearance since winning it all in 2023.

Eovaldi will certainly be at the forefront of any success the Rangers' pitching staff has during the 2026 season.

If both Eovaldi and deGrom stay healthy, then the Rangers certainly could have two of the top candidates for American League CY Young on their hands.

It’ll be interesting to see which of the two first-year manager Skip Schumaker tabs to start on Opening Day.

Eovaldi has started on Opening Day each of the last two seasons for the Rangers after deGrom began the year at the back of the rotation in 2025.

Eovaldi and his fellow pitchers will report to Spring Training in just three days as Rangers camp is soon to get underway.
