Paying homage to the baseball histories of Dallas and Fort Worth, the Texas Rangers unveiled their new Nike City Connect jerseys Monday morning with a ton of fanfare – and fans – at the Globe Life Field.
The new uniforms, which the Rangers will debut on the field Friday against the Oakland Athletics, are meant to connect the two largest cities in the Metroplex, which is often called “DFW.”
The new uniforms also reflect the Rangers’ history in Arlington, along with its former mayor Tom Vandergriff, who was instrumental in the franchise relocating from Washington, D.C. in 1972
Per the Rangers:
The City Connect uniform celebrates the “team’s origin story and the Texas spirit that brought Dallas and Fort Worth together in Arlington – through baseball.” Uniforms features include:
The Jersey
The Pants
The Cap
The Accessories
The Rangers’ entire City Connect story and detailed uniforms can be viewed at Rangers.com/CityConnect.
The Texas Rangers Grand Slam Team Store at Globe Life Field is the exclusive Metroplex home to buy the new City Connect gear until Friday. Fans can also purchase the collection at MLB.com, Nike app and Nike.com, NewEra.com, Stance.com and the MLB Flagship Store in New York City.
The morning scene at Globe Life Field included fans getting free Hurtado Barbeque and Golden Chick on the north plaza, along with other festivities.
The Rangers will wear the City Connect uniforms for every Friday home game. Texas is one of six teams that will wear City Connect jerseys for the first time in 2023, along with the Atlanta Braves, Seattle Mariners, Cincinnati Reds, Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Nike MLB City Connect Series launched in 2021 to celebrate the connection between the specific club and its city. Along with debuting the uniforms Friday, the Rangers will wear them again Saturday against Oakland.
Also on Friday, the first 30,000 fans will receive the commemorative program and first 15,000 get a City Connect-themed Marcus Semien Bobblehead. The Semien bobblehead is the first of a three-part City Connect series also featuring Corey Seager on May 19 and Jacob deGrom on June 16.
