The Tampa Bay Rays lost 3-2 to the New York Mets, snapping their four-game winning streak. Ian Seymour struck out 10, but Tampa Bay's offense couldn't provide enough run support as Yandy Diaz and Jonathan Aranda combined to go 0-for-8.

The Tampa Bay Rays couldn't get it done as they fell to the New York Mets in the series opener, 3-2, at Tropicana Field on Monday.

The loss snaps a four-game winning streak for Tampa Bay as they look to add more to their lead in the AL East division standings.

Here's what you need to know from the contest

Seymour delivers, but support doesn't come.

Overall, it was a great start for Ian Seymour, although he picked up his sixth loss of the season. He allowed three earned runs, including a home run to Mark Vientos in the top of the seventh inning. He allowed six hits but struck out 10 New York Mets in the outing.

He easily did enough to secure a victory; however, Tampa Bay just could not deliver with run support for the reliever-turned-starter

Offense couldn't deliver

They had their chances, but they could not make it work. The Tampa Rays' offense recorded nine hits and picked up two runs in the contest, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Mets' 3-2 victory.

For once, the bottom of the order saw some hits: the 5-9 order of Chandler Simpson, Cedric Mullins, Jonny Deluca, Richie Palacio, and Taylor Walls all recorded at least one hit. Unfortunately, that was not the same for the top of the order.

It was a rough day at the plate for Yandy Diaz. The veteran All-Star went 0 for 5 at the plate with three strikeouts and did not set the table for Tampa Bay. Jonathan Aranda, who followed Yandy, was also 0 for 3 at the plate. Combining the top two in the order, 0 for 8, with three strikeouts

The team was decent once traffic was on base, going 3 for 8 with runners in scoring position; however, it just wasn't enough traffic to make it count.

Time to bounce back at home

After being almost impossible to beat at Tropicana Field to begin the season, the team is now 46-24 on their home field after a few tough losses over the last 10 games in Tampa Bay.

Before they head out on the road for a seven-game road trip, the team will have two more chances at home to get right and still win the series. They'll be back in action on Tuesday to take on the Mets and hopefully even up the series. It'll be an interesting matchup as a recently acquired pitcher from the visiting team, Freddy Peralta, will take the mound for Tampa Bay. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 pm Eastern.
