Tampa Bay Rays All-Star third baseman Junior Caminero will go behind the scenes for the Fall Classic

Tampa Bay Rays All-Star third baseman Junior Caminero will take on a new role off the field during the 2025 World Series.

Major League Baseball on Thursday announced Caminero as one of its three correspondents for the Fall Classic matchup between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers. He joins Athletics outfielder Lawrence Butler and Kansas City Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino.

According to MLB.com, Pasquantino will be the correspondent for Media Day and Game 1 in Toronto, where he’ll produce content on MLB social channels, provide behind-the-scenes access to the Fall Classic and be a part of social media takeovers. Subsequently, Butler will attend Games 3 and 4 in Los Angeles, where he will provide player-first coverage and create content across the suite of @MLB social media channels. Caminero will work closely with MLB Español, providing digital coverage in Spanish at Games 3 and 4 when the series shifts to Dodger Stadium.

Caminero, also known by his nickname La Maxima, quickly rose to stardom in Tampa Bay’s lineup during the 2025 season. At 22 years old, Caminero had a record-setting season at the plate, posting 45 home runs, which ranked third in the American League and were the second most in Rays franchise history behind Carlos Pena (46, 2007). He was also the runner-up in the Home Run Derby to Seattle Mariners slugger Cal Raleigh.

Caminero also led all American League third baseman in home runs, extra-base hits (73), RBIs, slugging percentage and total bases. Additionally, he ranked second in runs scored, OPS (.846) and OPS+ (131) and was third in hits and bWAR (4.5) while finishing in the league’s top 10 in several categories among qualified hitters, including home runs (third), total bases (third) and runs scored (second), which earned him a nomination for the American League Silver Slugger Award.

Through 154 games, Caminero hit .264/.311/.535 (159-for-602) with 28 doubles, 45 home runs, 110 RBIs and 93 runs.
