The Red Sox added Erik Miller, Eli White and Jake Rogers to their active roster.

BOSTON— Ahead of Tuesday night's series opener against the Chicago White Sox, the Boston Red Sox added three of their four trade deadline acquisitions to their active roster in a series of roster moves.

Left-handed reliever Erik Miller, catcher Jake Rogers, and outfielder Eli White were all added to the 26-man roster. To make room for their acquisitions, the Red Sox optioned utility man Romy Gonzalez to Triple-A Worcester and designated reliever Ryan Watson for assignment.

About Miller

The Red Sox acquired the 28-year-old Miller from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for shortstop Marcelo Mayer in a shocking deal late Monday afternoon.

In 32.2 innings for San Francisco, Miller posted a 2.76 ERA, holding batters to a .198 average while striking out 31.7 percent of the batters he faced. He has, however, struggled with command, walking 15.5 percent of the batters he faces, the seventh-highest walk rate among all relievers with at least 30 innings of work.

About Rogers

The 31-year-old Rogers joins his third team of 2026 after spending only three days in Baltimore, having been sent to the Orioles after being designated for assignment by the Detroit Tigers. In 37 games, he has hit .163/.270/.296/.565 while providing below-average defense behind the plate.

He’ll likely split time with Connor Wong behind the plate as Adley Rutschman works his way back from left wrist inflammation.

About White

The 32-year-old outfielder was acquired from Atlanta in exchange for pitcher Tyler Uberstein. In 69 games for the Braves in 2026, White has hit .233/.285/.406/.691 with five home runs, six doubles, and 11 RBI.

He’ll serve as a fourth outfielder, allowing interim manager Chad Tracy to give any of the Red Sox regular outfielders a day off without taking a step back defensively.

About Watson

Watson was acquired over the offseason from the Athletics after they selected him in the rule five draft from the San Francisco Giants. The 28-year-old has performed well in a mostly mop-up/innings eating role at the front end of the Boston bullpen. In 55.2 innings, Watson has posted a 4.53 ERA, allowing opponents to hit .251 against him.

Watson will head to waivers to see if any team will claim him. Should he go unclaimed he’ll be returned to the Giants organization for $50,000. If San Francisco declines to take him back, he will remain with Boston, being assigned to Triple-A Worcester.

About Gonzalez

It’s been rough sledding for the veteran utility man since returning from the injured list on June 28. In 19 games, the 29-year-old infielder has hit just .185/.264/.308/.572.

Gonzalez played only six games on his rehab assignment after missing the first 81 games of the season before being activated in hopes of sparking what was, at the time, an anemic Boston offense.

He’ll head to Triple-A Worcester, where he’ll look to find his timing at the plate before returning to the Red Sox in his usual lefty killer role.

Up next for the Sox

The Red Sox will welcome the Chicago White Sox at Fenway Park. Patrick Sandoval (0-0, 3.32 ERA) will get the start for Boston opposite Davis Martin (9-5, 3.62 ERA) for Chicago. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. ET.
