After unloading the farm to acquire All-Star catcher Adley Rutschman ahead of the trade deadline, the Boston Red Sox organization took a major hit in the latest farm system rankings from MLB Pipeline and Baseball America. However, led by No. 2-rated prospect Franklin Arias, the system still has plenty of talent. Along with Arias, Boston has one of the biggest up-arrow prospects in the sport, catcher Franklin Primera, who was recently named to MLB Pipeline’s All-Breakout team.

All-Breakout team selection

MLB Pipeline’s all-breakout team consists of players who were not ranked within the outlet's preseason top 10 organizational rankings, but have put themselves on the radar.

About Primera

Primera, who signed with Boston for $10,000 as part of the 2024 international free agent class, made his United States debut in 2026 with the Florida Complex League Red Sox. After hitting .427/.549/.718/1.267 in 32 games in the FCL, Primera was quickly promoted to Single-A Salem. In 43 games with Salem, the 19-year-old backstop has hit .322/.466/.480/.946 with four home runs, 10 doubles, and 22 RBI.

After entering the season unranked in MLB Pipeline’s organizational Top 30, Primera is now the No. 4 prospect in the organization. Pipeline calls Primera a “$10,000 steal” who "has emerged as one of the best young catching prospects in the game.
