It was a great week for Boston Red Sox prospects Antonio Anderson, Josue Brito, Blake Wehunt, and Dylan Brown as the pair were named Hitters of the Week by Minor League Baseball.
The Boston Red Sox are riding high off their first four-game winning streak of the 2026 season, a four-game sweep of the New York Yankees at Fenway Park. But it was also a fantastic week down on the farm as several of the Sox farmhands were named Minor League Players of the Week.
About Antonio Anderson
It’s been a tumultuous professional career for Anderson, who was Boston’s third-round pick in 2023. The 21-year-old Georgia Tech product has hit only .214/.317/.310/.627 with 13 home runs and 99 RBI in four seasons.
After beginning the 2025 season in Single-A Salem, Anderson finished the season with High-A Greenville, where he hit .212/.279/.290/.569 in his final 67 games. His struggles at the level led the Red Sox to return him to Greenville for the 2026 season.
In his first 37 games of 2026, Anderson’s struggles have continued as he is hitting .236/.342/.390/.732 with four home runs and 18 RBI. The 21-year-old has shown signs of life in the last month, though, hitting .350/.422/.650/1.072 in the last 28 days. Over the last week, Anderson hit .500/.542/1.000/1.542 with three home runs, which earned him South Atlantic League Hitter of the Week honors.
Anderson is currently unranked in SoxProspects.com’s top 60 prospects in the Boston organization.
About Dylan Brown
Anderson was joined by his Greenville teammate Brown to take home a clean sweep of the South Atlantic League Player of the Week awards. The Red Sox selected Brown out of Old Dominion University with their eighth-round pick of the 2025 MLB Draft. The 22-year-old left-hander made his professional debut with Salem to begin the 2026 season, but was quickly promoted to Greenville after posting a 2.31 ERA across 23.1 innings with the Ridge Yaks.
Brown has made seven appearances, six starts, since his promotion, allowing 15 earned runs on 35 hits across 33.1 innings, good for an ERA of 4.05.
The 6’5” left-hander turned in the best start of his young career on Wednesday, tossing seven shutout innings, allowing only two hits while striking out a career-high 11 en route to South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week honors.
According to SoxProspects, Brown is a “Tall left-hander with a pitchability-over-stuff profile, but the type of arm the Red Sox have had success elevating as of late. Has a frame that suggests he could throw harder and a solid four-pitch mix to build on, with all showing bat-missing ability and having interesting traits. Throws a lot of strikes and has an advanced profile that should be able to succeed in the low minors.” He currently ranks as the No. 31 prospect in the Boston system.
About Blake Wehunt
The Red Sox selected Wehunt in the ninth round of the 2023 MLB Draft out of Kennesaw State. After finishing the 2025 season with a 5.68 ERA in 63.1 innings with Double-Portland, the 25-year-old right-hander was reassigned to the level in 2026.
Through 11 starts with the Sea Dogs in 2026, Wehunt has seen much better results, posting a 3.77 ERA across 43 innings while striking out 57 and walking only 12. He tossed six shutout innings, allowing only one hit and striking out eight on Sunday afternoon, earning him Eastern League Pitcher of the Week honors.
Wehunt currently ranks as the No. 18 prospect in the Boston organization. According to SoxProspects, he is a “potential major league depth starter or long reliever. Ceiling of a quality multi-inning reliever or back-end starter.”
About Josue Brito
The 19-year-old Brito was signed by the Red Sox for $20,000 out of Venezuela as part of the 2024 international signing class. He is making his United States debut in 2026 with the Florida Complex League Red Sox after spending the 2024 and 2025 seasons in the Dominican Summer League, where he was named the Red Sox Minor League Latin Program Offensive Player of the Year in 2025.
The right-handed outfielder is hitting .303/.450/.606/1.056 with six home runs and 31 RBI in 32 games in the Florida Complex League. His line of .462/.529/.923/1.452 with two home runs saw him join fellow Boston prospects Louis Andujar and Franklin Primera as the third member of the FCL Red Sox to earn Hitter of the Week honors in the Florida Complex League.
Brito is currently not ranked in SoxProspects organizational top 60.
Meanwhile, back in Boston, the Red Sox will look to extend their season-long four-game winning streak to five on Monday night as they open up a three-game set with the Washington Nationals. Ranger Suarez (3-3, 2.83 ERA) will get the start for Boston opposite Miles Mikolas (2-6, 5.24 ERA) for Washington. First pitch from Fenway set for 7:10 p.m. ET.
