So far, we've heard reports of the Red Sox looking to buy, but teams are hoping it goes the other way.

On Sunday, we heard at least one report that said that the Boston Red Sox are looking to add offensive help to their roster.

Buster Olney of ESPN reiterated that on Sunday, saying that the Red Sox are targeting help on offense, and while he didn't explicitly specify, he did mention that second or third base could be options.

However, other teams are monitoring the Red Sox for their willingness to sell, it appears. Bob Nightengale of USA reported on Sunday that the San Diego Padres "have their eyes on" reliever Aroldis Chapman, seeking to pair him with Mason Miller at the back end of their bullpen.

Even though the Red Sox enter play on Sunday at 22-29, they are just 2.5 games back of the final wild card spot in the American League, which has been woefully mediocre through the first 50 games of the season or so. Because of that, it's too early to think about them selling, especially someone as good as Chapman.

The 38-year-old has been dominant again for Boston, going 0-1 with a microscopic 0.51 ERA. In 18 appearances, he has 12 saves and 23 strikeouts in just 17.2 innings.

Chapman has a mutual option with the Red Sox after the season that he is sure to decline, so he'll hit free agency. Because of that, Boston will be open to trading him if a playoff spot is unattainable, but again, it feels too early for that right now.

A 17-year veteran of the Cincinnati Reds, New York Yankees, Kansas City Royals, Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh Pirates, Texas Rangers and Red Sox, Chapman is 60-49 lifetime with a 2.48 ERA. He has 379 career saves, is an eight-time All-Star and has two World Series rings.

While he likely won't get there as of now, his resume is bordering on Hall of Fame-possible.

Up next for the Red Sox

The Red Sox will look to avoid a three-game sweep at the hands of the Minnesota Twins on Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park.

First pitch is set for 1:35 p.m. ET as right-hander Sonny Gray pitches against Bailey Ober.

Gray, acquired this offseason from the St. Louis Cardinals, is 5-1 with a 2.93 ERA. Ober is 5-2 with a 3.63 ERA. He doesn't throw exceptionally hard, but his high release point and good changeup do make him a tough matchup for opposing offenses.

Boston will be off on Memorial Day Monday.
