The Boston Red Sox may be off on Monday night, but it is still a great day for the organization as three prospects, Johanfran Garcia, Franklin Primera, and Sadbiel Delzine, took home Minor League Player of the Week honors for June 9-14. 

The 21-year-old catcher, nicknamed "The Username", is the younger brother of former Red Sox top prospect Jhostynxon Garcia. After missing much of the 2025 season recovering from a torn ACL, Garcia has gotten off to a fantastic start to the 2026 season, hitting .309/.356/.570/.926 with 11 home runs and 31 RBI in 36 games for Double-A Portland. 

Over the last week, the right-handed slugger hit .519/.536/.889/1.425 with two home runs, four doubles, and 10 RBI en route to being named the Eastern League Hitter of the Week. 

Garcia is currently ranked as the No. 34 prospect in the Red Sox system by SoxProspects.com, which evaluates him as a "potential minor league depth player" whose projection will hinge on his ability to hit the ball harder following his knee injury and on improved conditioning. 

The strong week is a good sign that the 21-year-old is well on his way to hitting the ball harder and improving his prospect stock. 

There has been no hotter hitter in the Red Sox organization than the 19-year-old catcher. Primera signed with Boston out of Venezuela for only $10,000 as a part of the 2024 international free agent class. He made his professional debut in 2025, hitting .333/.465/.430/.895 in 45 games in the Dominican Summer League, before heading stateside for the 2026 season. 

Primera has hit the ground running in his first game action in the United States, hitting .458/.596/.778/1.374 with six home runs and 22 RBI in 24 games for the Florida Complex League Red Sox. The 19-year-old leads all FCL hitters in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and OPS. 

Over the last seven days, Primera has hit .700/.786/1.400/2.186, including a 4-for-5 six RBI performance in the FCL Red Sox' 26-6 bludgeoning of the FCL Braves en route to being named the FCL Hitter of the Week. 

After entering the season outside of SoxProspects' top 30, Primera has skyrocketed to the No. 13 prospect in the organization. According to SoxProspects, he is a "young catching prospect with considerable defensive upside. Development will largely turn on how his bat develops, as his defense is advanced for his age". 

The Red Sox signed Delzine out of Venezuela for $500,000 as part of the 2025 international free agent class. Like Primera, Delzine spent the 2025 season pitching in the Dominican Summer League, where he allowed five earned runs in 9.1 innings pitched while striking out nine and walking only one batter. 

Delzine has been incredibly impressive in his first six appearances stateside, holding batters to a .114 batting average while striking out 10.41 batters per nine innings. The 18-year-old right-hander has allowed only three earned runs in 23.1 innings pitched while flashing upper-90s velocity on his fastball. 

He is coming off the best start of his young career on Tuesday night, allowing two hits while striking out eight in 6.1 shutout innings. A performance that earned him FCL Pitcher of the Week honors. 

Like Primera, Dalzine has vaulted up the SoxProspects rankings, currently checking in as the 11th-best prospect in the organization. According to SoxProspects, the 19-year-old is a "high upside arm that could be a slow burn". 

Meanwhile, back in Boston, the Red Sox are off Monday after taking two of three from the Texas Rangers over the weekend. They will wrap up their six-game homestand with a three-game set with the Toronto Blue Jays that gets underway Tuesday night at Fenway Park. Payton Tolle (3-3, 2.70 ERA) will get the start for the Red Sox, while Toronto has yet to name its starter. First pitch set for 6:45 p.m. ET.
