BOSTON -- The newest crop of Boston Red Sox prospects has entered the system after the 2026 MLB Draft took place in Philadelphia as a part of All-Star week. Of the 19 players selected by the Red Sox, all but two have signed and reported to Ft. Myers to begin their professional careers as of Wednesday. As a part of the post-draft process, Baseball America updates its organizational top 30, placing four of the Red Sox draftees into the rankings. Here's what you need to know: 

The Red Sox rankings are, of course, headlined by a trio of top 100 prospects, shortstop Franklin Arias (No. 3) and pitchers Anthony Eyanson (No. 34) and Kyson Witherspoon (No. 98). Outfielders Justin Gonzales and Enddy Azocar round out the top five. 

Boston first-round pick, shortstop Jake Schaffner, is the highest-ranked draftee, checking in at No. 9 on the rankings. The 21-year-old shortstop was seen as a reach at the 20th overall pick with which he was selected, but the team signed him for a significantly discounted $2 million deal, using their savings on higher-ceiling high school prospects later in the draft. In his first and only season at the University of North Carolina, Schaffner hit .356/.467/.552/1.019 with six home runs and 19 doubles in 68 games.

Boston's second pick, outfielder Owen Hull, is right behind his fellow former Tar Heel, being ranked by BA as the No. 10 prospect in the organization. Hull was selected with the No. 67 pick, which was acquired as part of the Caleb Durbin deal with the Milwaukee Brewers. He signed for $1.2 million, a slight discount from the $1.3 million slot value associated with the pick. 

In 69 games for the Tar Heels, the 21-year-old lefty hit .393/.500/.615/1.115 with nine home runs and 27 doubles.

After the pair of former Tar Heels, there is a slight drop-off before reaching the next draftee to crack the top 30, where third-round pick shortstop Jace Mataczynski finds himself as the No. 14-rated prospect in the organization. The 18-year-old shortstop from Wisconsin was among the high-ceiling prospects Boston used their savings from Schaffner on, signing Mataczynski to a $2-million deal to forgo his commitment to Auburn University. 

Mataczynski offers a unique blend of power and speed at shortstop; his 50-grade power paired with 60-grade speed makes the young shortstop a potential 20/20 player. 

The final Red Sox draftee to rank inside Baseball America's top 30 is arguably the crown jewel of their draft class, outfielder Martin Shelar. The 18-year-old from Georgia signed a massive $1.5 million signing bonus with Boston to forgo his commitment to Mississippi State, breaking the record for the highest signing bonus of any player selected in the ninth round. 

Despite being drafted with the No. 274 overall pick in the draft, Shelar has major upside, with Baseball Prospectus ranking the Georgia product as the No. 13 player available in the entire draft. Shelar starred at the 2026 MLB Draft Combine in Phoenix, posting massive power numbers, including exit velocities that touched 115 mph. 

With 55-grade power and speed, Shelar gives the Red Sox a high-upside project, similar to that of Roman Anthony, who was signed to a well-over-slot deal in the 2022 MLB Draft. 

One draftee that somewhat surprisingly didn't crack Baseball America's organizational rankings is 10th-round pick, pitcher Kaleb LaFavor. Boston selected the 18-year-old right-hander with the 304th pick, signing with Boston for $850,000. LaFavor, while raw, has traits that, according to MLB Pipeline's Jim Callis, resemble those of Milwaukee Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski.

Despite that, the Red Sox pitching development staff clearly saw something in the 6-foot-7 righty, as they were willing to give him more than $650,000 more than the slot value of the 304th pick. 

According to Tommy Cassell of the Worcester Telegram and Gazette, Schaffner, Hull, Mataczynski, Shelar, and LaFavor will be at Fenway Park for Wednesday's doubleheader between the Red Sox and Orioles. 

Meanwhile, the surging Red Sox are 51-48 and in third place in the American League East.
