The Red Sox will be well represented at the MLB Futures Game during All-Star weekend with both Franklin Arias and Anthony Eyanson named to the American League roster.
BOSTON -- Major League Baseball announced the rosters for the annual Futures Game, which is a prospect showcase that will kick off All-Star week at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. The Boston Red Sox will be well represented as the top two prospects in their organization, shortstop Franklin Arias and right-handed pitcher Anthony Eyanson, were selected to represent the American League in the exhibition.
About Arias
There has been no prospect in all of baseball that has seen their stock rise as much as Arias has in 2026. Initially seen as a glove-first prospect with a strong hit tool but questionable power, the 20-year-old from Curaçao entered the season as Baseball America's No. 49 prospect, but a newfound power stroke has made Arias one of the best prospects in the sport.
After spending the final 10 games of the 2025 season with Double-A Portland, hitting .261/.250/.435/.685, Arias was sent back to the level for a full season of work to start the 2026 season. In his second taste of the level, Arias has dominated, hitting .328/.407/.594/1.001 with a career-high 16 home runs, a number that nearly doubles his previous career high.
Arias ranks top five among all Eastern League hitters in home runs and on-base percentage, while being the league leader in batting average, slugging percentage, and OPS. Arias' incredible start to the season has led Baseball America to name him the third-best prospect in the sport, behind fellow shortstops Jesus Made of the Milwaukee Brewers and Leo De Vries of the Athletics.
The 20-year-old shortstop figures to be one of the most exciting prospects to watch at the exhibition.
About Eyanson
Like Arias, Eyanson is one of the biggest prospect risers in the entire sport for 2026. The 2025 third-round selection of the Red Sox entered the season with the perception of a starter with a solid floor, but a limited ceiling thanks to a lack of velocity and stuff that doesn't immediately jump off the page.
However, the Red Sox pitching lab, built by Chief Baseball Officer Craig Breslow, elevated both Eyanson's velocity and stuff, which is paying massive dividends for the 23-year-old LSU product.
After spending the balance of the 2025 season in Fort Myers with the rest of the pitchers selected in the 2025 Draft, Eyanson was assigned to High-A Greenville, where he quickly proved that he was too advanced for the level, allowing just one earned run on seven hits across 20.1 innings while striking out 47.9 percent of the batters he faced in five starts before being promoted to Double-A Portland.
The 21-year-old has carried that success to Portland, where he has allowed five earned runs on 18 hits over 30.1 innings in seven starts, posting a 1.48 ERA and holding opponents to a .178 batting average.
After entering the season unranked in Baseball America's top 100, Eyanson has jumped to No. 33, the second-highest rated prospect in the Boston system, in July's update.
The MLB Futures Game is set for July 12 at 12:00 p.m. ET.
