The Cincinnati Reds were defeated by the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday, losing by a final score of 10-3. The Reds' pitching was unable to find an answer for the Guardians' offense in the ball game. Cleveland recorded 10 runs on 12 hits in what was a tremendous effort.
Brady Singer started for the Reds. He turned in four innings of five-run baseball while striking out six batters. Singer also surrendered seven hits and three home runs in the defeat.
It has been a struggle for Singer so far in the 2026 campaign. The Reds' right-hander now holds a lackluster 6.26 ERA across 46 innings pitched. He has struck out 34 hitters in his 10 starts as well.
Singer was not the only player to blame for the defeat on Sunday, though. Cincinnati's bullpen also allowed five runs as Cleveland scored 10 total runs in the game. The Guardians' offense is far from the best in baseball, but they clearly found success on Sunday.
The Reds' offense, meanwhile, did not have its best game. Cincinnati scored three runs overall, but they did record 11 hits. The team certainly could have done more damage, but they were unable to consistently drive in runs.
Elly De La Cruz, Sal Stewart, Spencer Steer and Nathaniel Lowe all had two hits in the ball game. Nevertheless, scoring runs was a challenge for the Reds against the Guardians.
The Reds were defeated in the series in Cleveland 2-1. They won the first game by a final score of 7-6, but the Guardians bounced back with a 7-4 victory on Saturday and the aforementioned 10-3 win on Sunday.

Cincinnati and the Pittsburgh Pirates are tied for last place in the National League Central standings with 24-23 overall records. The Reds are now just 4-6 across their past 10 games. They are currently 5.5 games behind the Chicago Cubs for first place in the NL Central division.
The Reds are set to travel to Philadelphia to play the Phillies on Monday for the first contest of a three-game series. Philadelphia has played well in recent action following a slow start to the season, so it will be a challenging series for Cincinnati.
First pitch for the first game of the series on Monday night is scheduled for 6:40 PM EST in Philadelphia as the Reds look to get back on track.
