Hunter Greene will bounce back.

The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 9-7 in their spring training matchup on Saturday. As the score reflects, runs were not hard to find in the game. Reds ace Hunter Greene was the starter, and he endured an uncharacteristically difficult outing.

The All-Star allowed four earned runs in just one inning of work. He walked a hitter and surrendered five hits as well. After the game, Greene explained what went wrong in the outing, via Charlie Goldsmith.

"Results weren't great. Going in, the plan especially adjusting to the ABS was I wanted to fill the zone up," Greene said. "I was probably too middle today. It's a good hitting team. Trying to find more of those corners. I can taper and work from there.

"Fill the zone up and then as I adjust, I'll start getting those corners, ball to strike and strike to balls. I stuck to my plan and definitely wanted to fill the zone up. Probably a little too much."

It is worth remembering that pitchers often have specific plans in spring training. They are working on various things, and they often test them out during spring games. That is especially true for a pitcher such as Greene, who already has a rotation spot secured. He's going to be in the rotation even if he struggles.

For Greene, he will simply move on from the start. It was not his best performance to say the least, but he will surely be fine moving forward.

Reds Defeat Brewers Despite Greene's Struggles

Cincinnati's offense picked Greene up on Saturday.

The Reds scored nine runs en route to the win over their division rival. Cincinnati now holds a 4-3 record in spring training so far.

Matt McLain -- who is looking to have a bounce back season -- went 2-3 with a home run, two runs scored and one RBI.

Michael Chavis is hoping to earn a spot on the big league roster. He helped his case on Saturday with a 7th inning home run.

Reds star Elly De La Cruz went 1-3 with a double in the game. De La Cruz is set to have another big season. He could even take a step forward following back-to-back All-Star appearances.

It is only spring training so there is no reason to overreact. With that being said, the Reds' offense is their weakness. To see the lineup break through was promising.

The Reds' next game in spring training is scheduled for 3:05 PM EST on Sunday afternoon against the Athletics.
