Toglia went down diving for a line drive in left field on Friday, and Cincinnati made the roster move official Sunday.

The club placed Michael Toglia on the 10-day injured list on Sunday with a dislocated right shoulder, a move made retroactive to Saturday, and recalled infielder Ivan Johnson from Triple-A Louisville to take his roster spot.
Toglia hurt himself in the first inning of Friday's series opener at Chase Field, laying out for a Geraldo Perdomo line drive in left field, and he landed hard enough to knock the shoulder out.
He needed help from the training staff on his way off the field, and TJ Friedl took over in left.
Encouraging Signs
The early medical scans gave the Reds some hope.
X-rays on the shoulder came back negative, and manager Terry Francona told reporters the joint went back in quickly, saying the injury might not be as bad as it first appeared and that everything depends on how Toglia feels.
Toglia did sound upbeat after the game.
"It's definitely pretty sore from being out of place, but I'm not in any pain right now, and the gentle range of motion looked fantastic," Toglia said.
The club wanted more testing before settling on a course, and the answer arrived with Sunday's move.
The stint is backdated far enough that Toglia can return at the start of September if the shoulder cooperates.
A Rough Break
The timing stings for a player who had just fought his way back to the majors.
Toglia signed a minor league deal with Cincinnati over the winter after four seasons with the Rockies, then hit .273 with 22 home runs at Louisville to earn a call-up on August 11.
The results had not arrived yet at this level, as he managed three hits in 26 at-bats across 10 games, but the former first-round pick was getting regular chances at a moment when the lineup badly needed bodies.
Johnson comes back for his third stint with the big club this season and gives Francona another infield option while the outfield sorts itself out.
The Injury List Keeps Growing
Toglia joins a crowded training room.
Spencer Steer is done for the season with a wrist injury, the Reds lost Hunter Greene to a second Tommy John surgery earlier this month, and Blake Dunn is not expected back until 2027 after elbow surgery of his own.
Elly De La Cruz missed time with a hamstring strain in June, and Rhett Lowder spent weeks on the shelf in May with a shoulder problem, so almost nobody on the roster has escaped this season untouched.
No club can plan for a year with this much bad luck, only react to it.
The team keeps playing through it anyway.
Cincinnati sits at 62-68 after Saturday's 11-5 rout of the Diamondbacks, a night that featured JJ Bleday hitting for the cycle, and the series wraps this evening in Arizona before a trip to San Francisco.
