These three teams would be a good fit for Spencer Steer.

With the All-Star break here, the trade deadline is inching closer. The Cincinnati Reds are expected to be sellers, as they currently sit in last place in the NL Central at 43-52, six games back of the fourth-place Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Reds’ trade candidates include Nate Lowe, Brady Singer, Eugenio Suarez, Tyler Stephenson and others. Spencer Steer has also popped up on the radar as a player with multiple years of team control beyond the 2026 season. In addition, Nick Lodolo’s recent blister injury that landed him on the 15-day injured list may make it more likely that Steer gets dealt, as Lodolo was a definite trade target as a proven starter who could have commanded a pretty decent return.

Below are three teams that could be good trade partners in a Spencer Steer deal. Steer’s combination of power, utility in the field and ability to play every position except shortstop, pitcher and catcher will make him very valuable to a team in a playoff push looking for a bat.

Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers are currently tied for 28th in MLB with 89 home runs, and Spencer Steer could easily hit 25 or more this season. The Brewers have three players with double-digit home runs, led by Jake Bauers with 18. Milwaukee is also 19th in MLB in slugging percentage.

The Brewers have the No. 1 farm system in MLB and could offer the Reds a deal they can’t refuse, making it worthwhile to send Steer to a division rival. The two teams could swap utility players, with the Brewers sending infielder/outfielder Jett Williams to Cincinnati in a deal for Steer.

Cleveland Guardians

The Guardians are just two spots ahead of the Brewers in home runs, ranking 27th in MLB with a league-worst slugging percentage. Cleveland has four players with double-digit home runs, and Chase DeLauter and Angel Martinez are tied for the team lead with 11. Steer would become the Guardians’ leader in home runs with 14.

Switch-hitting outfield prospect Jaison Chourio would pique my interest in a deal sending Steer to the Guardians.

Toronto Blue Jays

The Blue Jays are 23rd in home runs and 25th in slugging percentage. They are carried by Kazuma Okamoto, who has an eye-popping 22 home runs, with no one else reaching more than 10. Toronto doesn’t have as talent-rich a farm system as the Brewers or Guardians, but left-handed pitcher Johnny King would likely get the Reds thinking about a possible deal.
