This Reds player seems poised to have a breakout season.

The Cincinnati Reds have had an up and down start to the 2026 MLB season. Some players are playing well, while others have yet to get things going in 2026. One player is currently shattering expectations, however. Outfielder Dane Myers has started the season strong for the Reds.

Dane Myers

Myers was acquired in an offseason trade from the Miami Marlins. While the deal seemed like it could benefit Cincinnati, it remained to be seen how much of an impact Myers would have on his new ball club.

Through seven games played and 11 total 2026 at-bats, the outfielder is hitting .364/.364/.364. It is a limited sample size, but Myers seems like a player who can make a legitimate impact for a Reds' offense that needs all of the help it can get.

Myers made his MLB debut back in 2023 with the Marlins. He displayed potential but only appeared in 22 games. The 2024 season told a similar story, as Myers was limited to 44 contests.

He played in the most games of his big league career in 2025, appearing in a total of 106 contests. Myers ended up hitting .235/.291/.326 across 333 total plate appearances. Myers added six home runs, 31 RBIs and 18 stolen bases.

Myers is a player who can hit for some power while also offering stolen base prowess. He will look to continue shattering expectations as the season moves forward. Myers will surely earn more playing time if he continues to perform at a high level.

Reds' Questionable Overall Offense in 2026

The Reds' lineup is their biggest question mark. Elly De La Cruz is a star, Eugenio Suarez is a reliable veteran and Sal Stewart is a top prospect, but the overall lineup features uncertainty.

Cincinnati is going to need players like Myers to step up and play well throughout the campaign if the offense is going to find any level of true success. Stewart and Myers are the only Reds players who have swung their bats especially well to begin the 2026 campaign. The team will obviously need more all-around consistency as the season progresses.

Nevertheless, Dane Myers is establishing himself as an impactful player in the lineup. He will attempt to maintain his momentum moving forward.

The Reds are currently playing the Rangers in Texas in what should be a competitive ball game. Myers will look to have another big performance.
