Bobby Witt Jr. makes an admission about his award.

The Kansas City Royals have one of the best players in all of MLB. Bobby Witt Jr. Witt won the American League Player of the Week last week, earning an impressive award. When asked about the award on MLB Network on Wednesday, Witt made a humble admission.

"It's awesome and we're winning some baseball games with it, too," Witt said. "That's obviously the ultimate goal, just to go out there and win, I feel like when you're trying to do that, these things kind of just happen."

Witt's focus is on winning. He is not too concerned about individual accomplishments. With that being said, Witt has certainly earned awards already in his career.

He won Gold Glove and Silver Slugger Awards in both 2024 and 2025. He also won Silver Slugger Awards in each season. Witt has finished within the top seven of American League MVP voting three times in his four MLB seasons. It would not be surprising to see Witt earn the MVP this year.

Witt looks like one of the best players in MLB once again. He is currently hitting .305/.372/.491 across 42 games played. The star shortstop has also recorded six home runs, 12 stolen bases, 11 doubles and 20 RBI. He has continued to play a quality brand of defense along the way as well.

Witt will win more Player of the Week Awards. He may even earn an MVP at some point down the road. However, he is clearly focused on winning games. He wants to do everything he can to lead the Royals to victories.

Bobby Witt Jr. Leading Royals

The Royals were defeated 6-5 by the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday. Kansas City is now 19-24 overall and in fourth place in the American League Central standings. However, they are only four games behind the Cleveland Guardians for first place.

The Royals will play the White Sox once again on Thursday. Chicago has earned victories in each of the first two games of the series. The Royals are looking to avoid a series sweep. It has been a challenging series for the ball club up to this point.

The Royals will turn to Kris Bubic on Thursday. Bubic holds a 3-1 record and a 3.50 ERA. Anthony Kay (2-1, 4.89 ERA) will get the start for Chicago.

First pitch for the White Sox and Royals clash is scheduled for 7:40 PM EST as the Royals look to win their first game of the series against the White Sox.
