Derek Jeter is certainly a fan of Bobby Witt Jr.

The Kansas City Royals are well-represented at the World Baseball Classic. Bobby Witt Jr. is among the Royals players who are in the tournament, as he is the starting shortstop for Team USA. Witt has performed well, making plays on both sides of the ball. Witt has even caught the attention of Hall of Famer Derek Jeter, who made an honest admission about the star while speaking on Fox Sports.

"He is one of, if not my favorite, player to watch," Jeter said of Witt.

Jeter admitted that he may be a little biased to shortstops since he obviously played the position, but he enjoys the way Witt approaches the game. Jeter explained that Witt makes an impact even if he does not get a hit given his defensive prowess at the position. Of course, Jeter also acknowledged that Witt is more than capable of making a significant impact on offense as well.

Team USA is preparing to play on Tuesday in the World Baseball Classic game. They will play either Team Italy or Team Venezuela, depending on which team wins Monday's semifinals contest. Regardless of who their opponent is, Team USA will be ready for the matchup.

Witt will look to make an impact in the championship.

Bobby Witt Jr.'s Performance at the World Baseball Classic

Witt has played well in the WBC. He has made a number of impressive plays at shortstop, while he's also caused havoc on the base paths. At the plate, Witt has slashed .286/.423/.381 across five games and 21 at-bats. He has five walks and three steals to go along with two doubles and two runs scored.

Witt has yet to hit a WBC home run. That could change on Tuesday night. Whether it changes or not, Team USA knows Witt is going to help matters regardless. As Jeter said, even if Witt does not get a hit, he will still find a way to make an impact. However, Witt could certainly come through with a big hit or two as well.

The World Baseball Classic championship game is scheduled for Tuesday night at 8 PM EST at loanDepot park in Miami, Florida. The USA squad lost the 2023 WBC championship to Team Japan, so they are hoping to rebound with a victory over Team Venezuela or Team Italy on Tuesday night.

Team USA will enter the game with confidence with Bobby Witt Jr. on the roster.
