Royals outfielder Isaac Collins suffered an injury on Tuesday.
The Kansas City Royals were defeated by the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday night. During the game, Royals outfielder Isaac Collins exited with an apparent injury. The Royals later announced that Collins suffered a right knee contusion.
It remains to be seen how much time Collins could end up missing with the injury. The Royals will monitor and provide updates on his status as they are made available.
Collins, 28, was acquired in a trade from the Milwaukee Brewers during the offseason. He features a respectable ceiling and could make a significant impact in Kansas City's outfield. Heading into Tuesday's game, however, Collins was hitting just .214/.327/.310 across 15 games played.
WIth Milwaukee in 2025, Collins hit .263/.411/.779 in 130 total contests. He added nine home runs and 16 stolen bases in what was an overall strong campaign.
The Royals are hopeful that he will not have to miss too much time.
Royals Lose Low-Scoring Game to Tigers
As for the game itself, Detroit emerged victorious with a 2-1 score. Cole Ragans got the start for the Royals and he pitched well. The Royals ace turned in six innings of shutout baseball. The bullpen proceeded to give up two runs in the loss, though.
For the Tigers, Framber Valdez started and allowed only one run across seven innings. The Tigers' bullpen held the Royals scoreless following Valdez's departure from the game.
Offensively, Carter Jensen did not record a hit but he did have the Royals' only RBI of the contest. The Royals only had four total hits in the entire game. Kansas City is now 7-10 overall while Detroit is 8-9.
Royals-Tigers Next Matchups
The Royals and Tigers will play once again on Wednesday and Thursday. First pitch on Wednesday night is scheduled for 6:40 PM EST, while Thursday's contest is a day game scheduled for 1:10 PM EST.
Seth Lugo is set to start Wednesday's matchup. The Tigers will turn to Jack Flaherty in the contest. Lugo has performed well in 2026 while Flaherty has struggled.
On Thursday, Kris Bubic is expected to start. Meanwhile, Keider Montero will get the ball for Detroit. Both pitchers have been successful early this season.
The Cleveland Guardians and Minnesota Twins currently lead the American League Central division standings, but both the Royals and Tigers are not far behind. It is shaping up to be a competitive division to say the least.
