The San Francisco Giants have finalized their active 26-man roster for the 2023 season. The club announced its roster Thursday morning on Twitter.
Gabe Kapler's club will carry 12 pitchers and 14 position players for its Opening Day game against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium Thursday. Of course, the Giants can update their roster at any time. Outfielders Austin Slater and Mitch Haniger will begin the season on the Injured List, and so will relief pitcher Luke Jackson. The Giants signed Haniger to a three-year, $43.5 million contract over the winter, after Haniger spent the majority of his career with the Seattle Mariners.
The Giants are coming off a 2022 season in which they finished right at .500, compiling an 81-81 record. One year prior, the club surprisingly won 107 games and the National League West division title, putting an end to the Dodgers' eight-year streak of finishing at the top of the division.
The Giants will play their first game of the season Thursday at 1:05 p.m. ET at Yankee Stadium.
