Brady Farkas from the Refuse to Lose podcast and Mariners Roundtable on Naylor and the M's.

The Seattle Mariners came within one game of winning their first American League pennant and reaching the World Series last month. They've got every intention of contending again in 2026.

The first step in that process is re-signing some of their free agents. And it looks like the deal is done with first baseman Josh Naylor. According to multiple reports, Naylor and the Mariners have agreed on a five-year deal that approaches $100 million.

Here's the latest on the move from Mariners Roundtable publisher Brady Farkas, who's been on top of this story from the beginning. Signing Naylor is a big deal, Farkas writes, but it's also just a start on what needs to be a productive offseason for the Mariners' front office.

The 28-year-old Naylor was acquired at the trade deadline by the Mariners, and he played a key role in Seattle's run to the postseason. He also filled a huge gap in the Mariners' lineup, where they were at the bottom of the league in production at first base before his arrival.

Naylor started his career with the San Diego Padres, playing two seasons there in 2019-20. He spent five years in Cleveland, and was with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2025 before getting traded to the Mariners.

He played 54 games in Seattle, hitting .299 with nine home runs and 33 RBIs. He hit .340 in the playoffs, with three dramatic home runs and five RBIs.
