LA earned a 4-3 win as the best team in baseball swept the Twins in Minnesota. Twins starter Joe Ryan endured an up and down performance in his pitching matchup against Shohei Ohtani.
Ryan was able to give the Twins six innings and nine strikeouts, but he surrendered four earned runs on eight hits in the defeat. Minnesota's bullpen limited the Dodgers following Ryan's departure, but the Dodgers were able to limit the Twins to three total runs.
Ohtani also pitched six innings in the game. He allowed only two earned runs (three total runs) while striking out eight hitters.
In all reality, it was not a bad outing for Ryan. He performed well enough against a Dodgers team that has won back-to-back World Series championships. Sure, he would have preferred to have surrendered less runs, but the right-handed hurler still gave his ball club an opportunity to win the game.
Ryan now holds a 3.18 ERA across 17 starts in 2026. He has held opponents to a .219 batting average. Ryan also has recorded 108 strikeouts in his 93.1 innings of work on the mound.
The right-handed hurler is expected to be a popular trade candidate before the deadline this season. If he continues to pitch at a high level, Ryan will only further boost his trade value. The Dodgers could display some level of interest in Ryan as well.
For now, he is focused on helping the Twins to the best of his ability.

Minnesota was swept by Los Angeles as mentioned. It was a forgettable three-game series for the Twins at home. The ball club is looking to get back on track as soon as possible.
The Twins have an off day on Thursday before their next series. On Friday, they will begin a three-game series against the Colorado Rockies at home. The Rockies have struggled, so it should be a good opportunity for the Twins to get back into the win column. With that being said, it is never smart to overlook your opponent, of course.
