On Thursday afternoon, the Minnesota Twins announced the organization’s 2026 minor league player and pitcher of the year — outfielder Walker Jenkins and starting pitcher Adrian Bohorquez.

The selection of Jenkins was a no-brainer for the Twins organization. The 21-year-old outfielder excelled at the Triple-A level, as he had eventually earned a call-up to the major league level at the end of August.

In the minor leagues in 2026, Jenkins played a total of 69 games with Triple-A St. Paul, as well as four games between Single-A and High-A in a rehab assignment. Walker stood out as the organization’s most intriguing bat going forward.

Jenkins, the Twins’ top prospect and No. 13 prospect via MLB Pipeline, recorded a .323 batting average with an OPS of .976 in 279 at-bats in the minor leagues this year. He also had 14 home runs and 31 RBI to his name, while also proving to be a threat on the basepaths as he stole 17 bases.

Though Jenkins did spend some time on the injured list towards the middle of the season, his success at the plate did not slow down one bit. Once he had been called up to the Twins, he did struggle in his first couple of weeks, but did find a rhythm towards mid-September and rode a hot stretch to the end of Minnesota’s regular season.

The Twins’ No. 5 pick selection in the 2023 draft excelled at the minor league level and showed some very encouraging flashes of the player the Twins can expect to see going forward. At just 21 years old, the future is very bright for the Twins’ top prospect, who will likely figure into being an everyday player to open the 2027 season.

Bohorquez, the Twins' No. 18 ranked prospect via MLB Pipeline, excelled across three minor league levels in the 2026 season.

The right-hander spent the majority of his season in High-A, where he made 12 appearances, 11 of which were starts, and posted a 4.19 ERA across 38 ⅔ innings of work.

The 21-year-old starter finished his season at the Double-A level, where he stood out in the four starts he made. Bohorquez recorded a 1.06 ERA in 17 innings pitched, where he had struck out 18 batters and walked just seven.

Bohorquez, who the Twins signed from Venezuela in 2023, is likely to find his way into the Triple-A level soon with the way he had pitched in Double-A.
