Byron Buxton accomplished an impressive feat on Monday.

The Minnesota Twins earned an impressive 13-6 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Monday. They handed Red Sox ace Garrett Crochet a crushing defeat, as he allowed 11 runs (10 earned) in only 1.2 innings of work. Meanwhile, Twins star Byron Buxton made Target Field history.

In the fifth inning with the Twins already ahead 11-3, Buxton hit a solo home run. The long ball made him the all-time home run leader at Target Field.

Despite a plethora of injuries in his career, Buxton has become the all-time leader for home runs at Target Field. It is a feat that cements his status as one of the best Twins players in recent memory. Buxton has endured a slow start to the new campaign, but that does not take away from his feat on Monday.

Buxton, Twins Cruise to Win Over Red Sox

The Twins' lineup had no problems on Monday night.

Minnesota hit four home runs in the game. Victor Caratini, Ryan Kreidler and Ryan Jeffers also hit long balls in addition to Buxton's home run in the game. Buxton finished with two hits, while Jeffers recorded three. In total, the lineup had 11 hits in what was a tremendous performance.

The ball club's offensive outburst was not expected against one of the best pitchers in MLB in Garrett Crochet. The left-hander has now given up 16 earned runs in 19 innings of work, placing his ERA at 7.58. 10 of those earned runs came on Monday, however.

For the Twins, Bailey Ober started the contest. He obviously had more than enough run support. Ober ended up allowing four earned runs across six innings on the mound. The bullpen gave up a couple more runs, but the Twins still cruised to the victory.

Minnesota now holds a 10-7 overall record. Expectations were low for the Twins heading into the new campaign, but they are suddenly tied for first place with the Cleveland Guardians in the American League Central division. Boston fell to 10-6 with the defeat. The Red Sox are now in last place in the American League East.

The Twins and Red Sox will play once again on Tuesday night. Sonny Gray will look to have a better performance for the Red Sox on the mound, while Mick Abel will get the ball for the Twins. First pitch is scheduled for 7:40 PM EST at Target Field in Minnesota.
