Royce Lewis continues to struggle at the plate.

The Minnesota Twins earned a 3-0 victory against the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night. While it was a respectable win, Royce Lewis continued to struggle at the plate. He did reach base with a walk, but Lewis went 0-2. The infielder is now slashing .167/.269/.300 in 27 games played. He has three home runs as well.

So, what is going wrong for Lewis? He was once a top prospect, so why is he struggling at such an alarming rate at the plate?

Lewis is in the 82nd percentile in barrel percentage. However, he has not consistently hit the ball hard. Lewis is in the 52nd percentile in hard-hit percentage. Additionally, Lewis is only in the third percentile in whiff percentage and 19th percentile in strikeout percentage.

Lewis is not making hard contact and he also is striking out too much. That obviously is not a recipe for success.

Will he bounce back? Well, he is only 26 years old. Lewis could certainly get back on track. At the moment, though, Lewis is not playing his best baseball to say the least. The Twins are hopeful that he will figure things out sooner rather than later.

Twins Defeat Marlins on Tuesday Night

Minnesota is now 19-23 overall and in third place in the American League Central standings. The ball club is playing better than expected.

Bailey Ober led the way with a complete game shutout performance. Ober was incredible against the Marlins, as he struck out seven hitters and allowed only two hits to go along with no walks.

Neither offense was tremendous on Tuesday night. The Twins only had three runs on four hits in the contest. Ryan Jeffers recorded a big home run and two RBIs to help Minnesota win the ball game. Jeffers helped the Twins emerge victorious in the pitcher's duel.

Minnesota has played well in recent action. The ball club earned a 2-1 series victory against the Cleveland Guardians during the weekend. Cleveland leads the American League Central, so that was a big series win for them without question.

With Tuesday night's victory, the Twins have now earned three consecutive wins. Minnesota will attempt to keep things going during the Marlins series.

The next contest is scheduled for Tuesday night in what should be another competitive matchup. First pitch is scheduled for 7:40 PM EST as the Twins look to win a fourth consecutive ball game.
