Why the Minnesota Twins Should Consider Trading for Dodgers' Bobby Miller cover image

Should the Twins and Dodgers make this trade?

The Minnesota Twins could use another starting pitcher in the rotation. The Los Angeles Dodgers happen to have a plethora of starting pitching candidates. Should the Twins and Dodgers make a trade as a result?

Bobby Miller was once regarded as a future ace. Injuries and underperformance have defined his career with the Dodgers so far, however. Miller made his big league debut in 2023 and has pitched in a total of 37 games between the 2023, 2024 and 2025 seasons. The result? A 5.44 ERA and 1.344 WHIP in 185.1 innings of work.

A fresh start may be exactly what he needs. Miller has not exactly displayed many signs of becoming an ace in MLB, though, so why should the Twins take a chance on him?

Twins Should Consider a Bobby Miller Trade

There was a reason he was once ranked as the Dodgers' No. 1 overall pitching prospect. At only 26 years old, now is the time to buy low on Miller.

Of course, he will need to find a way to stay healthy. Injury concerns would be the biggest risk in acquiring him. If Miller can avoid too much injury trouble moving forward, there is reason to believe in his high ceiling.

Miller throws a curveball, four-seam fastball, sinker, changeup and slider. He was limited to two games pitched in 2025. In 2023 -- when Miller made 22 starts -- he ranked in the 98th percentile for fastball velocity, 98th percentile for fastball run value, 95th percentile for pitching run value, 81st percentile for barrel percentage and 80th percentile for walk percentage.

2023 was also the closest we've seen Miller come to pitching in a full season. He only made 13 starts in 2024 and two appearances in 2025. A full season is exactly what Bobby Miller needs to have his breakout campaign. The underlying numbers suggest the potential is present.

The Dodgers are one of baseball's smartest organizations. They understand that Miller is more than capable of figuring things out. Still, Los Angeles has no shortage of starting pitching depth and there is a chance the Dodgers would consider a trade if it made sense.

Given Miller's injury history and underperformance, the Twins could buy low on the right-handed pitcher at the moment.

At the very least, the Twins should consider reaching out to the Dodgers and inquiring about the possibility of a trade for Bobby Miller.
