News Discussion

Rest in peace, Jerry Koosman
Former Chicago White Sox pitcher Jerry Koosman passed away on Sunday at 83 years old.
Koosman pitched for the White Sox in 1981, 1982 & 1983, going 23-18 with a 4.23 ERA.

Great move by Justin Ishbia
Cool move by soon-to-be White Sox owner Justin Ishbia to invite Sox fans to participate in focus group sessions and provide feedback on his recent stadium proposal.
I personally love the stadium idea. I think White Sox fans who are upset about it are in the wrong. But I also think it’s a great move by Ishbia to give fans an opportunity to express their frustrations or show their support.

2027 power rankings
ESPN dropped their “way too early” power rankings for the 2027 MLB season.
The White Sox come in at No. 13. Do we think that’s fair?

Loving this White Sox trend
With today’s hire of Matt Roffe from the Milwaukee Brewers to oversee White Sox drafts moving forward, there’s a really encouraging trend from Chris Getz that I think is worth pointing out.
The organization has made a habit out of internal promotion for positions like this in the past. But from the moment he took over as GM, Getz has cast a wide net and brought in people from outside the organization.

ESPN acknowledges 2005
With today marking the anniversary of the White Sox winning the 2005 World Series, ESPN made a post on social media acknowledging the occasion.
White Sox fans are probably pretty surprised, given ESPN's history of forgetting about the 2005 World Series champions.

Venable wins Manager of the Year
Chicago White Sox manager Will Venable was named Sporting News Manager of the Year for the 2026 MLB season.
I think we can also expect Venable to win AL Manager of the Year when the BBWAA Awards are announced. He's been the betting favorite for the last few months.

White Sox Prospects of the Year
MLB Pipeline has named the White Sox Prospects of the Year.
As expected, Caleb Bonemer earned the honor on the position player side after hitting 37 home runs and posting a .930 OPS at just 20 years old, spending the majority of the season with Double-A Birmingham.

Guardians get karma
Good news, White Sox fans. The Cleveland Guardians have been eliminated, and they've won the exact same trophy as Chicago.
Cleveland did a lot of talking and parading around like they had won the World Series after beating the White Sox in the ALDS. All of that just to be eliminated before winning the pennant.

White Sox playoffs fun fact
A fun playoff fact that keeps popping up on my timeline is that the White Sox actually won more postseason games this year than the Dodgers.
Chicago won four games between the Wild Card Series and ALDS, while Los Angeles managed just three playoff wins before getting swept in the NLCS.

Former Sox catcher joins Tigers
Former Chicago White Sox catcher Martín Maldonado isn’t exactly beloved by the fan base after hitting just .119 with a .403 OPS over 135 at-bats in 2024.
Maldonado has since retired from playing and is now joining the Detroit Tigers’ coaching staff.
