Players Discussion

Rest in peace, Jerry Koosman
Former Chicago White Sox pitcher Jerry Koosman passed away on Sunday at 83 years old.
Koosman pitched for the White Sox in 1981, 1982 & 1983, going 23-18 with a 4.23 ERA.

Edgar Quero's walkoff
The fans got this one right. Edgar Quero's walkoff home run against the Cubs was voted Moment of the Year for the regular season.
There was no moment more electric and surprising than seeing the unlikeliest of heroes win the series for the Sox.

Looking forward to seeing more David Sandlin
David Sandlin is going to continue to be underrated across baseball because of his 5.58 ERA in 2026. He's still relatively unknown, but I'm very bullish on Sandlin moving forward.
He was lights out in the minor leagues this season, posting a 2.08 ERA across 16 starts. Four of his eight MLB appearances were particularly impressive, and the White Sox trusted him enough to pitch in two playoff games.

Meidroth x PCA x Bears
White Sox second baseman Chase Meidroth was at the Bears game on Thursday night, where he took pictures on the field with Cubs outfielder and NL MVP Pete Crow-Armstrong.
There's been a lot of talk about whether a White Sox player would join that friend group of young Chicago athletes. Maybe Meidroth is the young star who takes up that mantle.

White Sox Prospects of the Year
MLB Pipeline has named the White Sox Prospects of the Year.
As expected, Caleb Bonemer earned the honor on the position player side after hitting 37 home runs and posting a .930 OPS at just 20 years old, spending the majority of the season with Double-A Birmingham.

Do NOT trade Antonacci
For whatever reason, there's already been talk this offseason about whether or not the White Sox should trade Sam Antonacci because he's not a natural left fielder and Chase Meidroth has emerged as one of the best second basemen in baseball.
The answer is no.

Caleb Bonemer continues to rake
Just a few days ago, I wrote about Caleb Bonemer’s early success in the Arizona Fall League, and since then, all he’s done is keep hitting.
Bonemer is now batting .313 with a 1.045 OPS after hitting his second home run of the fall.

Former Sox catcher joins Tigers
Former Chicago White Sox catcher Martín Maldonado isn’t exactly beloved by the fan base after hitting just .119 with a .403 OPS over 135 at-bats in 2024.
Maldonado has since retired from playing and is now joining the Detroit Tigers’ coaching staff.

Can Sean Burke put the team on his back?
If there's one silver lining for the White Sox heading into Game 5 of the ALDS on Saturday, it's having Sean Burke on the mound.
He's been excellent against Cleveland all year and has been the most reliable starting pitcher the White Sox have. They'll need him at his absolute best, and they'll need him to pitch until his arm falls off.

Great interview from Miguel Vargas
I loved Miguel Vargas' interview after a tough Game 3 loss for the White Sox. Vargas seemed completely unbothered when asked how the defeat might affect the team moving forward.
It's clear these White Sox players never get too high or too low, and that mentality gives me a lot of confidence that they'll bounce back and play their best baseball in Game 4 on Thursday night.
