Home Runs Lift Yankees Past Cubs

The New York Yankees only needed two runs to defeat the Chicago Cubs 2-0 on Friday afternoon at Wrigley Field in Chicago. Both runs came by home runs. Amed Rosario hit his 10th home run this season in the fourth inning, and Spencer Jones connected for his fourth homer this season, too. Will Warren picked up the victory for the Yankees, going to 8-5 and 4.14 ERA, and David Bednar came on to nail down his 23rd save this season. Shota Imanega of Chicago absorbed the loss, falling to 7-9 with a 3.67 ERA. The Yankees remain in second place in the American League East Division. These teams pick up the series on Saturday at Wrigley Field in Chicago.Jul 31, 2026
