New York Yankees' second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. left Thursday's night game against the Houston Astros with knee contusions, according to MLB.com.

The injury occurred in when Chisholm tagged out Jose Altuve on an attempted steal in the third inning. Altuve's helmet collided with Chisholm's left knee during the play.

Chisholm took his at-bat in the fourth inning but was replaced by Jose Caballero after striking out.

Chisholm came into the night hitting .242 with 28 home runs and 78 RBI. He is within striking distance of the fourth 30/30 season by a Yankee as he has stole 26 bases as well. Over his last 15 games, Chisholm is hitting .288 with seven home runs and an OPS of 1.099.

The Yankees are in the midst of the most critical stretch of the season. Following this series in Houston, New York will face the Toronto Blue Jays, Detroit Tigers, and Boston Red Sox as it fights for the AL East title.

The next two weeks will be very telling for the Yankees' postseason status and hope that their second baseman will be on the field for the stretch run.
