As most New York Yankees fans continue to get frustrated with what Anthony Volpe has done over the past couple of years in New York, it was really cool to see how he played in his return game.

Volpe, who is with the Yankees at the moment because of Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s injury, was able to leave the yard in a very exciting situation with a grand slam.

It’s absolutely awesome that Volpe had this moment, and while people have been frustrated by him in the past, I think it’s also really cool to see that fans appreciated what he was able to do.

Instead of making any excuses about why he was sent down, why he thinks he should be a backup, or anything else, Volpe continued to just put his head down and get to work while he was in the minors.

It remains uncertain when he’s going to return to the minors, or if he ever will when Chisholm returns, but if there’s one thing that’s certain, it’s that he’s going to work hard, and he understands that nothing is guaranteed in this league.

"I wanted to be back up here. I wanted to contribute," Volpe said, per ESPN. "But when you're down there, there's obviously no guarantees. So you work really hard for yourself and for the player that you feel like can help the organization. But other than that, there's nothing guaranteed. You can't control it. So I never thought I was going to be back here in this moment, but I want to be ready and prepared in case something happens."

He’s a guy who a lot of people respect within the organization, which makes some of these decisions around him even harder.

Again, the anger from the fan base is sometimes warranted because fans expect the best from every player, and he wasn’t playing well, but he has the support of his teammates and his skipper, Aaron Boone, which is half the battle sometimes.

"Excited for him. He hasn't done anything but just continue to work and grind, and got his way back here and obviously had a massive impact tonight," Boone said. "Hopefully something that can springboard him even a little bit more."
