Kay has a point.

After the New York Yankees were eliminated by the Tampa Bay Rays in three games, getting swept in the ALDS, captain Aaron Judge made some interesting comments.

It almost felt like Judge was frustrated with what was happening in New York, and in a sense, he's right.

The last thing the Yankees want is to have Judge frustrated, because him not being on the same page as the skipper, front office, and the rest of the clubhouse is never going to lead to success.

As for what that means for the Yankees, Judge said he believes his team needs to do much more to compete at a high level and win a World Series.

He said that when he signed with the Yankees, he did so because he expected them to continue doing what the Yankees do, and that's going out and spending money on some of the best players in the world.

However, longtime Yankees analyst and announcer Michael Kay pushed back on Judge's comments, arguing that it's all New York has done throughout his time in the Bronx.

“And then Judge, after the game, Game 3, where the Yankees lost 4-3, he said, we’ve got to go all in. And that’s the one that confuses me the most. Go all in. What have they not done that would indicate that they’re all in? And if I owned the Yankees and I had a $330 million payroll, and my most important player, the face of my franchise, said that we’ve got to go all in, I would be on the phone with that player and go, what does that mean?

“Do you think I’m going to have a $480 million payroll like the Dodgers?… No other team, not even Steve Cohen’s Mets, would ever get to a $480 million payroll. So when you’re saying all in, what does that mean? Who have the Yankees passed up on? Who have they passed up on? I mean, they offered Juan Soto $50 million a year for 16 years. So they didn’t go cheap on that. That’s the one that really hurts,” Kay said, H/T Heavy.

I understand what Kay is saying, but I can also see where Judge's coming from. Both have fair arguments, but the Yankees will ultimately have to decide which direction they want to go. If we're being honest, Judge has had a lot of help throughout some of his career.

At the same time, there have been other teams that have tried to do more. Perhaps that's what Judge was trying to say, but nobody really knows what his comments fully meant.
