MLB Analyst Has High Praise for Anthony Volpe After Yankees Return

Anthony Volpe of the New York Yankees made his return to the big leagues on Thursday against the Colorado Rockies after being demoted over a month ago.

New York sent Volpe down after a poor stretch of games, hoping that the minor leagues could get him going. And something seemed to click for Volpe in the minors, giving him more confidence heading into his return.

Against the Rockies, Volpe went 3-for-4 at the plate, including a grand slam. Volpe drove in five runs total, helping the Yankees get the win.

His performance was special, giving the Yankees' faithful something to cheer about. After Volpe's return, the infielder was met with all sorts of praise from around the league.

This includes analyst Mark DeRosa of MLB Network, who said that he gave the Yankees star a tip of the cap while watching the game.

“Anthony Volpe, tip of the cap to you... When he got the curtain call last night, I stood up in my living room and gave him my own curtain call," DeRosa said.

Volpe's return came at the right time for the Yankees, given the recent sting of injuries to the team. But the infielder performed at a high level in his return to the major leagues, helping the Yankees get another big win.

For the year, Volpe has hit .251 with two home runs, 24 RBIs, and eight stolen bases, while recording an OPS of .682. Playing in the minor leagues was tough for Volpe, and he did whatever he could to get back to the big leagues.

“I wanted to get a lot out of it,” Volpe said. “You have a game every night to try out different stuff and feel what works. You feel like it’s going to translate in case an opportunity like this comes. So there was just a lot of trial and error.”

Now back with the Yankees, Volpe is looking to make this a long-term stay. The infielder has no interest in going back down, but his play on the field will ultimately determine everything.

However, his return showed what Volpe could do with some confidence. And the Yankees are hoping that this new look from the infielder is here to stay.

Volpe and the Yankees are getting ready to open a three-game series with the rival New York Mets. This will give him a chance to prove his worth to the team again.
