New York Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm has long been one of the more mercurial players in all of baseball.
Since his days with the Miami Marlins, he has had all of the talent in the world, but he was never really able to put it all together due to injuries, inconsistency and, sometimes, behavioral issues.
But since arriving in the Bronx, Chisholm has began to establish himself. He slashed .273/.325/.500 in 46 games with the Yankees in 2024, and this past season, he smashed 31 home runs while managing an .813 OPS. He also stole 31 bases.
Chisholm's temper has caused friction at times, specifically when it comes to expressing his displeasure with umpires. But it seems like the 28-year-old has been a great teammate and is welcome in New York.
However, with the two-time All-Star entering the final year of his deal, many are wondering about his future with the Yanks, and manager Aaron Boone recently dropped some comments that will have fans questioning it even further.

"The reality is I just demand a lot out of him because he’s capable of so much. It’s on us to just make sure he’s focused on going out there and being the best version of himself."
So essentially, Boone also needs to make sure that Chisholm is in check, and the "interesting" talks he was referring to don't exactly sound too positive.
Most likely, Boone is referencing having to deal the punishments Chisholm sometimes receives from the MLB due to his aforementioned confrontations with umpires. But the fact that he also has to make sure Chisholm is "focused" is concerning.
It also lends credence to the notion that Chisholm may not be the greatest long-term fit for the Yankees, especially considering that he is expected to command a multi-year contract worth in the neighborhood of $200 million next winter.
No one has ever questioned Chisholm's talent. He is a very dangerous hitter, and he has improved tremendously in the field. But you do have to wonder if his personality is truly a match for a reserved Yankees clubhouse led by Aaron Judge and, for the time being, Giancarlo Stanton.
