Jasson Dominguez is currently the New York Yankees' fourth outfielder following the team's decision to re-sign Cody Bellinger, and that is not what anyone expected from Dominguez when he was coming up through the minor leagues.
The former top prospect put forth a rather disappointing showing in 2025, slashing .257/.331/.388 with 10 home runs and 47 RBI over 429 plate appearances, all while playing miserable left field defense.
The Yankees might be losing patience with Dominguez, and with Bellinger re-signing for five years, the 22-year-old could be on the trading block.
That was made even more clear with a recent report from Jon Heyman of The New York Post, who has revealed that the Yanks have expressed interest in free-agent outfielders Randal Grichuk and Austin Slater, the latter of whom was initially acquired by the Bronx Bombers back at the trade deadline.
New York's starting outfield is already set, so why would the Yanks be looking at other outfielders unless it has already deemed Dominguez to be expendable?
It's entirely possible that the Yankees are dangling The Martian in trade talks and are already examining fallback options in the event that they move him.

The 34-year-old also owns a very respectable lifetime .763 OPS.
Grichuk has declined considerably in the field, but he would still be able to do a better job than Dominguez defensively.
Meanwhile, Slater barely even played for New York in 2025 after coming over at the deadline, but the fact that the Yankees are evidently weighing a reunion indicates that they are not currently set in terms of their bench.
That absolutely means Dominguez could be on the move, possibly for a pitcher. Remember: New York tried to acquire Freddy Peralta before the Milwaukee Brewers traded him to the Mets, and the Yanks were also in on MacKenzie Gore prior to the Washington Nationals sending him to the Texas Rangers.
With both Dominguez and Spencer Jones, the Yankees have a couple of compelling young outfield talents to include in potential blockbuster deals. They have been reluctant to do so in the past, but they seem to be warming up to the idea.
