The New York Yankees have revealed a vital stance before the MLB trade deadline.
The New York Yankees absolutely need to make some moves before the MLB trade deadline, and evidently, they are seeking middle infield help.
Could that mean Jazz Chisholm might be replaced at second base?
For the most part, Chisholm has been a major disappointment in 2026. Yes, the 28-year-old hit the game-winning home run against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday night, and he belted a couple of more dingers versus the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday evening.
However, on the season as a whole, Chisholm is slashing .228/.305/.423, which is well off of the .813 OPS he posted a year ago. Plus, Chisholm is slated to hit free agency next winter, and the Yankees seem unlikely to re-sign him.
But apparently, New York isn't looking to move on from Chisholm.
Jon Heyman of The New York Post has reported that the Yankees will not be dealing Chisholm between now and the deadline, largely because the Bronx Bombers have bigger fish to fry before Aug. 3.
New York specifically needs bullpen help, another starting pitcher and an upgrade at catcher, none of which obviously applies to Chisholm.

Well, the most likely scenario was always that the Yanks would search for an improvement at shortstop. Anthony Volpe has been a disappointment, and Jose Caballero is more valuable in a super-utility role.
The Yankees could absolutely upgrade from Chisholm by acquiring Luis Arraez from the San Francisco Giants, but they don't appear interested in heading down that road.
Like Chisholm, Arraez is headed toward free agency in the offseason, and while he is not expected to demand as much money as Chisholm, it's entirely possible that his market may be more robust than most initially expected.
The cost to acquire Arraez may also prove too much for New York to bear, especially with the Yankees having more prominent needs elsewhere.
Passing on the opportunity to land Arraez could prove to be a major mistake for New York. He is a three-time batting champion, and he is hitting .324 this season. He has also been terrific defensively in 2026.
Nevertheless, the Yankees seem committed to Chisholm, at least in the short term. Perhaps they just don't want to shake things up too much over the next two weeks.
