New York Yankees pitcher Cam Schlittler opened up on Boston Red Sox fans following his dominant outing at Fenway Park on Thursday night.
Last October, Cam Schlittler led the New York Yankees to a Game 3 Wild Card Series victory over the Boston Red Sox by tossing eight shutout innings.
Schlittler wasn't quite as dominant in his first trip to Fenway Park on Thursday night, but the results were eerily similar.
The right-hander pitched eight innings while allowing two runs — one earned — on four hits in a 4-2 win to guide the Yankees to a series sweep of their arch nemesis Thursday evening, and afterward, he revealed his thoughts on Red Sox fans.
“You underestimate how many good people show up to the ballpark,” Schlittler said. “It was great. For the most part, they were really respectful, and it seemed like there were a lot of Yankee fans here.”
Schlittler — who grew up in Massachusetts — famously had a war of words with Boston fans last postseason, and it came to a head after his dynamic playoff performance.
But remember: that game was at Yankee Stadium.

While Schlittler did hear some jeers from the crowd upon taking the field, his night was mostly uneventful ... outside of dominating a hapless Red Sox lineup.
Through six starts in 2026, Schlittler has gone 3-1 with a 1.77 ERA, allowing 22 hits while racking up 41 strikeouts over 35.1 innings of work. He boasts an incredible 10.25 K/BB ratio and also owns a sparkling 0.73 WHIP.
Schlittler hit the big leagues last July due to a rash of injuries that slammed New York's starting rotation, and at the time, he was not viewed as an elite prospect.
But the youngster proceeded to make 14 brilliant regular-season starts, pitching to the tune of a 2.96 ERA while surrendering just 58 hits while managing 84 punchouts across 73 frames of action.
The Yankees improved their record to 16-9 with their three-game sweep of the Red Sox and own the best record in the American League.
They will open up a three-game set with the flailing Houston Astros on Friday evening.
