Matthew Schmidt and Jon Conahan of New Yankees Roundtable discuss Cody Bellinger's ridiculous asking price and a whole lot more offseason stuff in the latest edition of the Yankees Roundtable podcast.

We are now nearly two months into free agency, and the New York Yankees have still done nothing of significance. So what exactly is going on?

Are the Yankees just waiting on Cody Bellinger? Are they putting together some major trades? Do they just not want to spend money or move prospects?

Fans are getting frustrated with New York's lack of activity, but Matthew Schmidt and Jon Conahan of Yankees Roundtable broke it all down in the newest episode of the Yankees Roundtable podcast.

The topics are as follows:

  • Apparently, Bellinger is seeking $36-37 million annually. The Yankees have reportedly offered a little over $30 million, so a gap still exists. Bellinger also wants seven years. Should New York just allow Bellinger to walk in this scenario? Or will Bellinger and Scott Boras eventually come down on their price and meet the Yankees at a more comfortable spot?
  • Bo Bichette is viewed as a Bellinger backup plan and has recently picked up steam as a potential target for the Yankees. However, rumor has it that Bichette is seeking $300 million. There is almost no chance he gets close to that much in free agency. What should New York be willing to pay him? And should the Yanks really want Bichette at all?
  • The Yankees missed out on Edward Cabrera, but there are still several other pitching trade targets available. Freddy Peralta, MacKenzie Gore and Mitch Keller have all been named as possibilities, and Tarik Skubal is always looming. How much should New York be willing to trade for any of these pitchers? Should the Yanks sell the farm for Skubal?
  • Let's say Bellinger sticks to his asking price. Should the Yankees then pivot to Kyle Tucker on a potential short-term deal? Evidently, Tucker may have to settle for a short-term contract with his market being so slow right now. Is it possible New York could still land Tucker?
  • Yankees fans are very frustrated with the current state of the franchise, and that is entirely understandable. But how much of the frustration is warranted? Should Brian Cashman be taking the brunt of it? Or is the problem really with Hal Steinbrenner?

All that and more in the newest episode of the Yankees Roundtable podcast.
