Quite a bit of news has surfaced surrounding the New York Yankees over the last 24 hours, as they re-signed first baseman Paul Goldschmidt on a one-year deal and also made a contract offer to outfielder Austin Slater.
Both Goldschmidt and Slater played for the Yankees in 2025. The former spent the entire campaign in the Bronx while Slater came over at the trade deadline.
It looks like New York will be reuniting with both heading into 2026, and with the Yankees' roster now basically appearing set, they have one more move to make.
Apparently, it's sending Jasson Dominguez to Triple-A.
Jon Heyman of The New York Post has reported that Dominguez, "barring something unforeseen," will be starting next season in the minor leagues.
We saw this writing on the wall when it was revealed that the Yankees were searching for a fourth outfielder after re-signing Cody Bellinger, but you still can't deny that it's a bit surprising.

Playing time for Dominguez became even more sporadic once Giancarlo Stanton returned, and by late summer, the 23-year-old was a bench piece.
The former top prospect slashed .257/.331/.388 with 10 home runs and 47 RBI over 429 plate appearances in 2025, but a good chunk of that production came over the first couple of months.
Dominguez hit just four homers after May, and he collected only 13 extra-base hits in total from June through the end of the season.
To make matters worse, Dominguez struggled tremendously defensively, which has certainly factored into New York's decision to go out and get another outfielder. Well, that and Dominguez's inability to hit left-handed pitching.
Considering how good Dominguez looked at the plate in the early stages of 2025, his plummeting stock is absolutely jarring. Brian Cashman said earlier this offseason that he still sees "some upside" with Dominguez, which isn't exactly a ringing endorsement.
Perhaps the Yanks will look to trade the Dominican native at some point this coming season, but as of right now, it doesn't appear that his value is all that high.
